There are so many different definitions for logistics. It is the science of managing and controlling the flow of goods, energy, information and other resources. The articles logistics management deals with raw materials, parts and finished goods. The main aim is maximized profitability through the costeffective fulfillment of orders.
The term logistics has evolved from the militarys field.In military logistics is a branch of military operations that deals with the procurement, distribution, maintenance, and replacement of materiel and personnel.
Today in business it is widely accepted that logistics include activities such as transportation, purchasing, warehousing and management of these activities. To a business enterprise, logistics activities may happen either internally or externally, covering the goods and information flow from original suppliers to end consumers.
Logistics activities include the planning, routing and the movement of goods with all transport modes, such as road, rail, sea, air and pipeline, as well as associated activities such as warehousing, information collecting and inventory controlling. As the supply of goods is becoming increasingly complicated, the industry of logistics is more and more important. There are several areas of logistical work,and five of them seem to be more critical than others, which are order processing;inventory;transportation;warehousing,materials handling,and packaging;and facility network.The full range of functional work must be integrated to realize the maximum
