本系列丛书是面向英语专业学生编写的专业知识类丛书。编写组经过多年的专业教学积累和相关资料收集及整理，编撰了该套丛书。我们希望通过本系列丛书，为英语专业学生提供接触中西方文化、拓展知识面的机会，从而对英语专业学生的人文素养提升有所帮助。目前，很多高校的英语专业越来越重视提升学生的语言能力，同时我们也发现学生在各项大型专业赛事、未来工作岗位显示出的人文素养基础薄弱、知识面较窄的缺点与不足。众所周知，英语专业学生肩负着中外语言文化传播的重任，其人文素养的高低也直接影响为社会提供语言服务的质量。因此，英语专业学生人文素养的培养尤为重要。2015年，《英语专业本科教学质量国家标准》出台。究其根本，一方面是为了解决英语专业人才培养规范化的问题；另一方面，也是应对目前英语专业学生人文素养匮乏的现状。本系列丛书将涵盖文学、文化、历史、哲学等人文知识的内容，除了为学生提供学习文学、语言学和翻译所需的文化基础知识之外，还会引导学生学习文化评析、文化鉴赏等百科知识的内容。本套知识类系列拟编写丛书十一本，分别是《圣经故事与英国文学作序　言圣经故事与英国文学作品赏析Appreciation of Bible Stories & English Literature英语专业知识类丛书 HUMANITIES KNOWLEDGE SERIES· 2 · · 1 ·品赏析》《圣经故事与美国文学作品赏析》《希腊神话典故解读》《英语演讲名篇修辞与文化赏析》《中国历史与文明概览》《欧洲历史与文明概览》《中国古代思想语录摘译》《英美电影与世界历史事件》《英语辩论与历届英美国家大选》《英语国家政治经济制度导读》等。希望本系列丛书能够全面地为读者呈现中西方历史与文明，展现政治、经济、文化、科技等各领域的重要事件与成就，为学习者提供学习英语、赏析文化的百科知识给养。目前，编写组正在计划启动“青蓝学术文库”编写计划，拟出版族裔文学研究、批评方法研究、翻译研究新编、语言学研究新编等学术知识与研究丛书。本系列丛书为沈阳师范大学国家级特色专业（英语）、辽宁省普通高等学校本科优势特色专业（英语）、辽宁省教育厅支持高校专业启动应用型转型试点专业（英语、翻译）、沈阳师范大学支柱性、标志性专业（英语、翻译）的建设成果之一。本套系列丛书涉及面广，跨专业、跨学科知识较多，由于编者水平有限，时间紧迫，书中一定存在疏漏，请广大读者批评指正。编者2016年5月

Noah and flood（挪亚与洪水）▲ 源自Genesis《创世纪》So God said to Noah, “I am going to put an end to all people, for the earth is filled with violence because of them. I am surely going to destroy both them and the earth. So make yourself an ark of cypress wood; make rooms in it and coat it with pitch inside and out.” (6:13-14)神就对挪亚说：“凡有血气的人，他的尽头已经来到我面前。因为地上充满了他们的强暴，我要把他们和地一并毁灭。你要用歌斐木造一只方舟，分一间一间的造，里外抹上松香。”“I am going to bring floodwaters on the earth to destroy all life under the heavens, every creature that has the breath of life in it. Genesis《创世纪》Lot and his two daughters left Zoar and settled in the mountains, for he was afraid to stay in Zoar. He and his two daughters lived in a cave. One day the older daughter said to the younger, “Our father is old, and there is no man around here to lie with us, as is the custom all over the earth. Let’s get our father to drink wine and then lie with him and preserve our family line through our father.” That night they got their father to drink wine, and the older daughter went in and lay with him. He was not aware of it when she lay down or when she got up. The next day the older daughter said to the younger, “Last night I lay with my father. Let’s get him to drink wine again tonight, and you go in and lie with him so we can preserve our family line through our father.” So they got their father to drink wine that night also, and the younger daughter went and lay with him. Again he was not aware of it when she lay down or when she got up. So both of Lot’s daughters became pregnant by their father.
