2014年2月,IB组织出版了对于第四学科组(group 4)——科学学科(science)的考核新大纲,涉及化学,物理,生物三门学科,并将于2016年5月正式对新大纲进行第一次全球统考(first assessment 2016)。化学学科新大纲对原来的SL和HL教学内容进行了调整,并将原来列为选修的现代分析化学(modern analytical chemistry)和环境化学(environmental chemistry)穿插到了核心课程(core & additional higher level)中。新大纲中对于考核的要求由原来的逐条仔细罗列改为了以理解(understanding)和应用(application)为主的笼统的概述。新大纲所涉及的内容难度也比原大纲有所上升。
本书是以新大纲和新版本教材为依据,内容紧密配合考核要求,专为IBDP(diploma program)11和12年级选修化学SL(standard level)和HL(higher level)的学生精心设计编写,旨在帮助学生更好地适应新大纲的学习,把握章节的重点和难点,轻松应对全球统考。
