“新时代主题大学英语”系列教材适应我国新时代本科教育之需要，按照《大学英语教学指南》之精神、参考《中国英语能力等级量表》而设计，是我国新一代大学英语教材。

《综合教程》是新时代大学英语系列教材的主干教材，共四册。教程有如下特色：1.选材标准严格。所选材料均摘自英文原版新闻、报道、评述等，选材标准依据2018年公布的《大学英语教学指南》。2.内容新颖，题材广泛。涉及语言学习、教育、诚信、时尚、体育、中国梦、世界看中国、文化等多个领域。3.体例设计独具匠心。注重基础性学习与探索性学习相结合。4.知识呈现具有系统性。教材所包含的词汇知识、语法知识、语用知识、阅读知识、翻译知识、文化知识等，构成教材较为系统的知识体系。5.注重思辨能力的培养。每单元都提供了与课文有关的话题与讨论（Topics and Discussion），为培养学生的思辨能力提供了素材。6.难易度适宜。篇章长度：每篇文章控制在700词左右；词汇难度：按照大学英语四级词汇（4 794）的要求，从较高词汇、更高词汇、超纲词汇三个维度进行把控。易读度：按照《大学英语教学指南》基础阶段的要求，采用Flesch Reading Ease易读度标准，对每篇文章的易读度进行科学控制。本书为综合教程学生用书*册。

本套教材由南京大学资深教授、教育部原大学外语教学指导委员会王守仁主任委员担任主审，东北师范大学纽瓦克学院院长、教育部外语教学指导委员会原副主任委员、资深教授张绍杰和沈阳航空航天大学资深教授魏承杰担任总主编。本套教材编写院校有沈阳航空航天大学、中国海洋大学、山东师范大学、广西师范大学、西华师范大学、哈尔滨师范大学、长春师范大学、湖北工业大学、佳木斯大学、山东工商学院。本套教材编写成员均是教学骨干和一线教师，他们具有丰富的教学实践和深厚的学养。

The word OK has found its way into just about every language on earth. We use it very often but never think about where it comes from and why it gains such popularity. We are so fascinated by the term that it becomes an international common sign widely acknowledged by a variety of cultures.

The Origin of the Word “OK”
1 This tale begins more than 175 years ago, in 1839, in the Boston Morning Post, when a particularly clever editor included it in an article about the Anti-Bell Ringing Society. In one particular line, he said “o.k. ?C all correct”, which does look a bit strange, given that all doesn’t begin with “o” and correct doesn’t start with “k”. However, this was a common thing back in those days, when alternative spellings were used in abbreviations as a joke. “No go”, for example, was abbreviated to k.g. (“know go”). That editor was simply making a joke, and most people would have forgotten the phrase, or it would have fallen out of style, had this editorial piece not preceded the presidential election of Martin Van Buren.
