国内现有英语专业泛读教材多为遵循传统语言教学法的习题驱动型教材:选取不同题
材、体裁的文章,按主题收录在不同单元,文章后附各类习题,如单项选择、选词填空、
判断正误、英汉翻译、问答题、思考题等。与精读教材相比,只是增加了每单元的阅读篇幅,
形式区别并不明显。一方面,大量时间花费在词汇练习、句法分析与细节理解上,失去了“泛”
的意义,不利于弥补学生在精读课上阅读速度与阅读量的不足;另一方面,与精读选材相比,
泛读文章虽篇幅加长,但难度缩水、深度不足,学生阅读流于表面,收获不大,形成对泛
读的轻视。
为解决上述问题,本教材在编写理念上做出如下创新:
1) 教学理念上,引入探究式学习(Enquiry-based
Learning)和“泛读—分析性阅读”相结
合的理念,以提升泛读课程的意义和价值,激发学生的学习热情。前者通过提升课堂
挑战性和参与度,迫使学生加大对泛读课的重视;后者通过在泛读中引入互补阅读方
法,保证信息和主旨捕捉的准确性,提高泛读课程的实用性。
2) 选材标准上,在主题多样、文体丰富的普遍原则基础上,从两方面扩展了“泛”的内
涵:一是在引介西方科学、文化、文学的同时,兼顾国际视野下的中国形象,促使学
生积累与本国相关的言语表达,了解西方看法,促进跨文化沟通;二是在兼顾趣味性、
知识性文章的同时,更多纳入有思想深度的文章,提高阅读深度和挑战性的同时,培
养学生的分析和批判性思维,锻炼其独立思考、形成个人观点的能力。
3) 问题设计上,从提供标准化习题转变为设定灵活、开放的阅读任务,由学生形成学习
小组,通过合作完成阅读任务,在团队的思想碰撞中自行发现、习得相关知识,突出
探究式学习理念,培养自主学习的能力。
4) 内容结构上,将阅读技巧训练从主题阅读中抽离,先针对不同阅读技巧进行专门集中
训练,提高学生对各种技巧的认知与使用意识;进而通过主题阅读,训练学生对这些
技巧的综合灵活应用,并在此基础上形成从阅读中获取、分析和加工信息的能力。
概言之,本教材以训练阅读技巧为先导、开展主题阅读为渠道、形成自主阅读为核心、
