2. Movie Story
The Pursuit of Happyness is a 2006 American biographical drama film based on Chris Gardner’s (Will Smith) nearly one-year struggle with homelessness. The storyline features Chris, a salesman who invests his family’s savings in portable bone-density scanners which he tries to sell to doctors. The investment proves to be a failure which financially breaks the family and as a result his wife leaves him and their son, Christopher.
Meanwhile, Chris has a shot at an intern stockbroker. Being unable to pay the rent and the taxes, he becomes homeless and has to look for homeless shelters for him and his son day by day. Despite his limited work hours, he works out various ways to make phone calls and to maximize his client contact. At the end of the internship, his struggle has paid back and he is offered a paid position. The epilogue reveals that Chris goes on to form his own multi-million-dollar brokerage firm.
