本书是在2010年第二版教材的基础上修订而成。新版教材在沿用原有编写理念的同时在文章选材、板块设计、练习编排等方面进行了修订。本书按主题分为8个单元,每单元包括1篇新闻,3篇文章,所选文章渐进地增加阅读长度和难度,其后附上一定的阅读理解和词汇练习,以及适量的写作练习,适合大中专院校中已完成英语初级阶段学习的非英语专业学习者使用,所选阅读文章均来自近年来原版英文报刊杂志,题材多样。此外,为方便使用, 本书附有练习答案。

《英语报刊选读教程》首版于2003 年,2010 年修订出版
第二版。
报刊文章(包括纸媒与网络)有其明显的时效性,瞬息万
变的世界形势必然带来思维及语言的变化,为保证语言学习者
的英语学习及知识结构与时俱进,故选编第三版。
第三版在课文编排及练习设计上仍保持前两版的教学理念
与基本格局,但在以下几方面做了修订:
1. 文章内容方面,更换了所有新闻文章及三分之二的课文,
以保持其时效性强的特点。
2. 单元设计方面,调整了主题顺序, 第六单元的主题
Society 改为Global Development, 以期更好地反映世界发展的正
能量现象。
3. 板块设计方面, 每篇文章的课后练习都增加了
From Reading to Writing/Speaking,增加基于输入的输出训练,
以提高学生的语言应用能力,同时也为整体语言技能训练提供
更多可能。本练习的设计理念为训练学生真正的日常及学术交
际能力(口头与书面),包括信息描述、摘要写作、观点陈述,
以 及有效提问等能力。
