The current Chairman of China Aviation Industry Corporation Limited, Fang Yufeng was Luo Yang’s classmate and the class commissary in charge of studies. Recalling that time in school,Fang Yufeng said, “At that time, the atmosphere of the school was very positive, and the atmosphere for learning was palpable. As the university had been closed for over a decade, opening up the main gates again gave everybody a feeling of being on a mission, and we all thought that to study hard and grasp more knowledge would serve the nation well. After 1981, dancing grew popular amongst some of the schools along with weekend dancing events. We,however stuck to our ways, only knew to bury our heads in books.
Having said that, we didn’t go overboard on just book study. At at the time, in the pursuit of truth we had some great debates too.”
